Markelle Fultz returned to his team-leading scoring ways with 27 points, but fouled out with seven minutes left as the Huskies fell 93-80 to Texas Christian Saturday night at Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Washington (4-2) never led in the title game of the Global Sports Classic tourney.
The freshman star made eight of 13 shots and hit 10 of 12 from the line. Noah Dickerson and David Crisp each had 14.
The Huskies closed to 54-52 with a little more than nine minutes left but TCU had a 19-6 sprint to the finish. The Horned Frogs’ bench outscored their UW counterparts 48-18. Washington missed 13 of 18 three-point attempts.
Alex Robinson came off the bench to lead undefeated TCU (6-0) with 24 points.
The teams play again Wednesday at TCU, the second game in a home-and-home series from a year ago. The Huskies won the December game 92-67.
