Yards per carry for Washington’s Chris Polk in his near-record, 284-yard rushing performance Saturday in the Apple Cup. Although Polk came within 12 yards of matching Hugh McElhenny’s school-record, 296-yard performance set 60 years ago against the Cougars, he came nowhere close to McElhenny’s yards-per-carry effort. In his 296-yard game, McElhenny averaged a school and NCAA record 14.8 yards per carry (20 attempts), and scored five TDs, one from 84 yards.

Number of times the Seahawks have lost to teams with 10 or more losses (Seahawks play 1-10 Carolina on Sunday at Qwest). The last time the Seahawks sucked the gaspipe to a 10+-loss team: Dec. 20, 2009, when 1-12 Tampa Bay throttled the Seahawks 24-7 at Qwest Field — a loss that cost Jim Mora his job.

When Kansas City DT Shaun Smith scored on a one-yard run against the Seahawks, he became, at 325 pounds, the heaviest player ever to tally a touchdown against the locals. He also became the first NFL player since William Perry on Nov. 24, 1985, to score a TD and record a sack in the same game (Perry ran one yard for a TD and had a sack in a 36-0 Chicago win over Atlanta). BTW: Perry topped out a 325 pounds in his heyday, and both Smith and Perry are South Carolina natives.
