The Mariners are just days away from opening their spring training camp, but general manager Jack Zduriencik hasn’t stopped looking for ways to try to beef up his roster.

The latest acquisition is right-handed pitcher Manny Delcarmen, who agreed to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. Seattle pitchers and catchers have physical exams Sunday and a day later have their first day of workouts at the club’s Peoria Stadium complex on Monday. The first full workout is Saturday, Feb. 19.

The addition of Delcarmen brings the list of non-roster players coming to Peoria to 23, most of which are pitchers. Delcarmen is the ninth right-hander brought in. Four lefties also have been signed.

Delcarmen, who turns 29 next week, has been a moderately successful middle reliever, putting together an 11-8 record and 3.97 ERA in 298 games spent with the Red Sox primarily, although he spent the second half of the 2010 season with the Colorado Rockies.

He pitched in 57 games last year, going 3-4 with a 4.99 ERA in time split between Boston and Colorado.
