Not much news today (other than the Sports Star of the Year awards, covered thoroughly elsewhere on this site), which is good because I’ve got a 102 fever and food’s going through me like Chris Polk through the Wazzu defense.

Pretty neat accomplishment for Skyline WR and future Husky Kasen Williams, named the Parade High School Football Player of the Year. Williams is the first Washington player to win in the 49-year history of the award.

Was watching the big San Diego St./BYU game last night, and SDSU has Tim Shelton, son of former Sonic Lonnie Shelton, on its team. Seems like there are a ton of former Sonics’ sons in DI right now: Jamelle McMillan and Corey Hawkins, both at Arizona State, Alex Schrempf at UCLA. Shawn Kemp Jr. was supposed to play at Auburn this year, but he didn’t qualify academically. Am I forgetting anyone?

Washington hired Jamie Clark as the new head coach of the UW men’s soccer team. Clark, who looks to be in his 30s, has also been head coach at Harvard and previous to taking the UW job at Creighton. He coached current Sounder Mike Fucito at Harvard and played with current Sounder Taylor Graham at Stanford.

Todd MacCullough is being named to the Pac-10 men’s basketball Hall of Honor.

If unranked Gonzaga loses to #24 Saint Mary’s in Spokane tonight, the Zags would fall three games behind Saint Mary’s in the WCC standings…wonder when the last time Gonzaga was that far behind.

Today’s action…

Pac-10 Hoops: UCLA @ Arizona, 6 p.m. (ESPN2)
WCC Hoops: St. Mary’s @ Gonzaga, 8 p.m. (ESPN2)
Pac-10 Hoops: Oregon St. @ Cal, 8 p.m. (FSN)
