Seahawks linebacker Leroy Hill almost has as many arrests (3) on his record as he has sacks (5) over the past three years. Hill’s latest — arrest, not sack — occurred Saturday when Atlanta cops, aided by alert police dogs, took him into custody after detecting the odor of marijuana emanating from his apartment.
Hill received a sentence of 12 months probation for misdemeanor drug possession for a Jan. 24, 2009 incident in which he was found snoozing at the wheel of his car. Atlanta (Hill’s off-season home) police then found marijuana in his car.
In April, 2010, Hill was arrested at his in-season home in Issaquah and charged with a misdemeanor count of fourth degree assault/domestic violence for an incident involving his live-in girlfriend at the time.
Hill avoided trial and reached a settlement, with charges to be dismissed if he complied with stipulations handed down by the Issaquah Municipal Court.
Hill was subsequently suspended for the first game of the 2010 season for violating the NFL’s drug policy. Later that year, Hill was docked two game checks for violating the league’s personal conduct policy for the domestic abuse charge.
Hill then went on season-ending injured reserve with an Achilles tendon injury that required surgery. Hill did not get on the field in 2010.
Hill, whom the Seahawks designated as their franchise player in 2009, is coming off his best NFL season. He played in all 16 games and was fourth on the team in tackles with 68, and second on the team in sacks with four.
In the latest incident, police charged Hill with marijuana possession (apparently less than an ounce) after dogs caught his scent coming from his 17th floor of his apartment. After obtaining a search warrant, police entered Hill’s condo and found marijuana in plain view.
Hill and his girlfriend were taken into custody and moved to the Atlanta Detention Center.
Hill, selected by the Seahawks in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft, now potentially faces a four-game suspension as a repeat offender, not an ideal situation for a soon-to-be free agent.

Hill is dumb as a post for putting himself in such a position. Still I wonder why cops spent the manpower, including drug dogs, on a report that someone was smoking pot. My home was burglarized and when i called the police they told me they would come out but it would be hopeless. I guess they are fighting the war on drugs joint by joint. That said… Hill is still a moron.
