Washington point guard Isaiah Thomas was named an honorable mention Associated Press All-American Monday.
The Huskies’ captain averaged 16.8 points and 6.1 assists per game for 24-11 Washington, which lost 86-83 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to North Carolina.
Thomas’ 213 assists in 2010-11 were the second most in UW single-season history, and the numbers are beginning to pile up after his first three years at Washington.
Thomas is sixth in scoring with 1,721 points, third in assists with 415 and third in three-point makes (164). Thomas has a shot to finish his career as the leader in each category.
Chris Welp is the scoring leader with 2,073 points. Thomas averaged 574 points through his first three seasons. He should easily break the scoring record.
Pressed into point guard duty this season, Thomas upped his season average for assists to 138. If he can duplicate that in his senior year, he will pass Will Conroy’s 515.
Three-point makes will be more difficult. Thomas shot his highest career percentage, 34.9, in 2010-11. He averages 55 makes a year. A repeat puts him at 219, just short of Ryan Appleby’s all-time mark of 231. But an extra 10 makes and he breaks the record.

This really hurts the M’s as that Sherrill was to be the horse of the bullpen. And possibly the closer if the team decided to trade League. Not sure at this point in the season how the team can get a comparable replacement.
