The President’s on Line One [Seattle Storm]
President Obama called to congratulate the Storm yesterday–although only one actual Storm player was on the call, with most of the team at the World Championships. Backup center Ashley Robinson joined Storm owners and upper management in talking to Obama, who praised the Storm as an inspiration for women, including his daughters (who both hoop).

ReignMan Restaurant? [Queen Anne View]
Shawn Kemp’s name appears on a liquor license application affixed to a vacant building in lower Queen Anne, just a short walk from KeyArena. Kemp’s business is listed as “MTK Ventures,” which my friend Dusty joked stands for “My Thirty Kids.”

Pac-12 Coming Sooner [ESPN]
Colorado will play football in what will now be the Pac-12 next year. Utah is already in. That means divisions and presumably a league championship game will happen next season.

Tacoma Rainiers lost 12-6 in the AAA championship game last night.

Four Rainiers have been called up to Seattle: Mike Carp, Greg Halman, Matt Mangini, and Anthony Varvaro. Notice that Josh Lueke ain’t on that list.
