The Sounders announced Tuesday that the second leg of their Western Conference semifinal series against Real Salt Lake Thursday will be televised nationally on NBC Sports Network (NBCSN), regionally on ROOT Sports and locally on KONG 6/16. The match has been pushed back 30 minutes. Originally scheduled for 6:30 p.m., it will begin at 7 p.m. at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, UT.
The match will be carried live on KONG 6/16 in the Seattle area and on ROOT Sports in Eastern Washington, Alaska, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. NBCSN will air the broadcast featuring Ross Fletcher and Kasey Keller across the remainder of the country.
The match can also be heard live on 97.3 KIRO FM.
The Sounders, who have been ousted in the first round of the playoffs in each of the last three years, and Real Salt Lake met in the first leg of the Western Conference semifinals last week at CenturyLink Field. The sides played to a 0-0 draw for the third time this season.
If Seattle and Real Salt Lake are tied at the end of regulation Thursday, the sides will play two 15-minute overtime periods in their entirety, if necessary. If the match is knotted at the end of overtime, the match will be decided by penalty kicks.
The Sounders have also been the most successful road team at Rio Tinto Stadium since entering the league in 2009. Just one other MLS club, the San Jose Earthquakes, has matched Seattle’s record of 1-1-2. The Sounders further sport the longest undefeated streak at Rio Tinto Stadium (1-0-2), with the lone loss coming in 2009.
The winner of Thursday’s match will face the San Jose-LA Galaxy victor in the Western Conference Finals. That series, with San Jose leading 1-0, resumes Wednesday.
