Highly-touted high school senior Nigel Williams-Goss has signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Washington. Coach Lorenzo Romar made the announcement Friday in Uncasville, CT., where Washington will play Seton Hall Saturday in the third round of the Tip-Off Hall of Fame Classic.
“We are very pleased to have Nigel join our team,” Romar said from Connecticut College, where the Huskies are practicing. “He is a great floor general. He is very intelligent and has a high, high basketball IQ. He understands what it takes to win and is a great leader. Guys like him don’t come around very often.”
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound point guard is the second player to join the 2012-13 Husky class during the fall signing period that began this week. Guard Darin Johnson of Sacramento made his pledge official Wednesday.
“These two players will help offset the loss of the guards that we have right now,” Romar said, referring to seniors Abdul Gaddy and Scott Suggs. “They are both really talented.”
Williams-Goss is originally from Happy Valley, OR., but plays for high school powerhouse Findlay Prep in Henderson, NV., near Las Vegas. He helped Findlay Prep to the high school national championship last year as a junior.
He is currently the 50th-ranked overall prospect in ESPN’s top 100, No. 61 on Rivals.com’s list and No. 97 according to Scout.com (23rd-ranked point guard).
Williams-Goss scored 33 points in Findlay Prep’s season opener and is averaging 18 points and nine assists through nine games this season.

Good recruit for Romar. Would like to see the program be able to get prospects higher on the listings though.
