The Pacific 12 Conference Monday selected Washington junior guard C.J. Wilcox as its men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 7-13. The Pleasant Grove, UT., native averaged 23.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks this past weekend in the Bay Area sweep for the Huskies, now 3-0 in league play.
Washington started the week off at California with a 62-47 win. Wilcox led the Huskies with a game-high 19 points and tied his career-high with eight rebounds. The junior was on fire on defense as well holding his player to no points on.
The Huskies then moved over to Stanford and registered a 65-60 victory. Wilcox shot .625 percent from the field and .667 from behind the three-point line for 27 points, just one shy of his career high. Wilcox scored 11 of Washington’s last 15 points in the game, including the final five. In addition to his 27 points, Wilcox set a new career-high with nine rebounds.
The sweep over the Cardinal and the Golden Bears marked the first for the Huskies since 1985. Washington has started the Pac-12 season with three-consecutive road wins for the first time since 1912.
This is Wilcox’s second career Pac-12 Player of the Week accolade. He earned first Player of the Week honor Nov. 14, 2011. It is the 45th all-time selection for Washington and its first this season.
Washington stays at home this week, hosting Colorado Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. PT on the Pac-12 Networks. On Saturday, the Huskies host Utah at 8 p.m. PT on ESPNU.
