University of Washington football coach Steve Sarkisian issued a statement saying All-America tight end candidate Austin Seferian-Jenkins “made decisions that fall short” after he was arrested by police around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night at 22nd Avenue NE and Northeast Ravenna.
Seattle police spokesman Det. Mark Jamieson told Associated Press that Seferian-Jenkins was pulled over, arrested on suspicion of DUI and released from the precinct office.
The nursing supervisor at Harborview Medical Center Sunday afternoon told Sportspress Northwest that Seferian-Jenkins was admitted to the hospital the previous night and released. She had no information on his injury or condition.
The university sent out this statement by Sarkisian: “We are aware of an incident that occurred Saturday evening involving Austin Seferian-Jenkins. We are taking the matter very seriously. Austin made decisions that fall short of our expectations for student-athletes who represent the University of Washington. He will be disciplined internally in accordance with team and departmental policies. We will continue to support Austin throughout this process, while also holding him accountable and responsible for his actions.”
The sophomore from Gig Harbor High School was the Huskies’ top offensive force last season after catching 69 passes for 852 yards and seven touchdowns.
Seferian-Jenkins holds the school tight end records for receiving yards in a season and career, touchdown receptions and receptions in a season and a career.

Be interesting to see how Sark handles this. For the most part ASJ has been a solid student for the program, at least publicly. As far as I know this is his first real transgression? Hard to say what the discipline will be.
