Cornerback Marcus Trufant has a shot at a staying in the NFL because his old boss, Gus Bradley, offered a chance in Jacksonville. The Tacoma native, former Washington State Cougar and 11-year Seahawk signed with Jaguars Tuesday, reuniting him with Bradley, the Seahawks defensive coordinator who took the Jags’ head coaching job.
“It was great to see (Bradley),” Trufant told the Florida Times-Union. “It was all smiles and high-fives. Just his presence brings a smile to my face.”
A first-round pick in 2003 by Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren, Trufant, 32, was mostly a backup last season, playing in 12 games, starting two, and was unlikely to return after the addition of free agent CB Antoine Winfield.
Trufant was one of the last two links to the Seahawks’ Super Bowl season of 2005. The other is LB Leroy Hill, who is also likely not to return.
