Midfielder Brad Evans will join Sounders FC teammate Eddie Johnson on the U.S. National Team that will play in three qualifier matches in pursuit of a berth 2014 World Cup bid. Evans reports to training camp Monday after the Sounders game at 8 p.m. Sunday in Los Angeles against the Galaxy.
Evans has seven U.S. caps, and was called to the USMNT in January for a friendly against Canada, playing midfield snd right back in a 0-0 draw. His most recent competitive match was against Haiti in July 2009.
The U.S. plays Jamaica in Kingston June 7, against Panama June 11 at CenturyLink and Honduras June 18 in Sandy, UT. Prior to those matches, the U.S. plays two friendlies, against Belgium May 29 in Cleveland and June 2 against Germany in Washington, D.C.
The Panama match will be the first Cup qualifier in Seattle since the U.S. beat Canada 2-0 in 1976. In 2005 and 2009, the Clink hosted matches in the CONCACAF Gold Cup
the U.S. is second in final round of qualifying for the FIFA World Cup. The U.S. could earn as many as nine points in the qualifiers. The team is riding a 21-0-2 unbeaten streak at home in World Cup qualifying and is coming off a pair of impressive results, beating Costa Rica 1-0 win against Costa Rica before earning a point in qualifying in Mexico for only the second time in team history.
