Here’s an idea that’s bound to elate all University of Washington basketball fans: The first Washington Men’s Basketball Alumni event is June 23 at Alaska Airlines Arena, and will feature a host of former UW (and current professional) stars, who will take part in a Legends Game, an Alumni Game, a Slam Dunk contest and a 3-point shootout.

The 1 p.m. event is open to the public.

“We have such a strong and connected network of former players here at Washington, and they love getting the chance to catch up with each other,” head coach Lorenzo Romar said in announcing the event’s creation. “This event is about providing an opportunity for them to do so, and for Washington basketball fans to get the chance to see some of their all-time favorites don the purple and gold once again.”

UW officials Monday said that they have received attendance confirmations from former UW stars Nate Robinson, Terrence Ross, Jon Brockman, Quincy Pondexter, Brandon Roy, Isaiah Thomas, Tony Wroten, Spencer Hawes and Justin Holiday.

Robinson, a member of the Chicago Bulls, is a three-time NBA slam dunk champion. Ross, of the Toronto Raptors, won this year’s contest. Roy made three NBA All-Star teams before knee problems derailed his career.

The event will be presented and produced by 3 Point Productions, a Seattle-based live events and sports entertainment company that works with the University of Washington.

“This is a one-of-a-kind event, and we’re thrilled to be presenting it,” Pat Walker, President of 3 Point Productions, said. “For the first time, Washington is holding a public game featuring the alumni players and the entertainment value of combining Husky tradition with this all star cast of athletes is going to make for a memorable day on campus.”

Tickets for the event are $15, with children under 12 in free. Tickets can be purchased online at GoHuskies.com/Events.
