The Mariners made it official Friday, summoning catcher Jesus Sucre, 25, from AAA Tacoma one day after optioning catcher Jesus Montero to the Rainiers. Seattle also recalled INF Carlos Triunfel and designated INF Robert Andino for assignment. Sucre and Triunfel will available for the series opener against Texas Friday night at Safeco Field.
Sucre hit .302 (16×53) with five runs scored, one double, five RBIs and six walks in 14 games with Tacoma this season. He threw out seven of 18 attempted base runners(38.9%), ranking fourth among catchers in the PCL.
Sucre has not committed an error behind the plate in 110 consecutive games dating to Aug. 27, 2011 while playing for AA Jackson. In 2012, Sucre was the only qualifying catcher in the Southern League to not commit an error.
Sucre was originally signed as an international free agent by the Atlanta Braves in 2005. He was signed by Seattle as a minor league free agent July 11, 2011 and re-signed with the Mariners after the 2012 season.
In nine minor league seasons, Sucre has hit .253 (445×1758) with 162 runs scored, 78 doubles, 21 home runs and 178 RBI in 498 games. He has also thrown out 42.4% of attempted base stealers (282 SB, 208 CS).
Triunfel, 23, hit .300 (51×170) with 29 runs scored, 14 doubles, two triples, four home runs and 19 RBI in 44 games this season. Triunfel has hit safely in eight of his last 11 games with three multi-hit games, batting .325 (13×40) with nine runs scored, four doubles, one home run and three RBI. He has appeared at three positions this season: short – 34 games; second – nine games; and third – one game.
Triunfel appeared in 10 games with the Mariners in 2012, batting .227 (5×22) with a pair of doubles and three RBIs.
Andino, 29, appeared in 29 games (22 starts) for the Mariners this season at three positions (SS – 18 G/11 GS; 2B – eight G/GS; 3B – 4 G/three GS). He batted .184 (14×76) with five runs scored, four doubles and four RBIs.
The Mariners have 10 days to trade, release or outright Andino’s contract to the minors.

Andino. Aka, Felix Fermin, Jose Offerman and every other lame infield pickup of the last 20 years. We’ve had one standout “utility” guy in 37 years, Mark McLemore. He took his game and left town a long time ago.
