Washington incoming freshman Nigel Williams-Goss scored 15 points to help Team USA romp past Serbia 82-68 Sunday in Prague in the FIBA U-19 World Championship title game. Team USA finished the tournament 9-0.
The Americans controlled the game from the outset and Williams-Goss played a prominent role. His 15 points in 28 minutes were second most on the team. He added a rebound, assist and a steal and was 6-for-9 from the field, including 2-for-3 from 3-point range.
Williams-Goss’s point total was his highest of the tournament.
Montrezl Harrel led the Americans with 17 points. Aaron Gordon, an Arizona recruit that Washington pursued, was named Most Valuable Player.
For the tournament, Williams-Goss averaged 7.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.7 steals. He shot 49.1 percent, including a team-high 42.1 percent (8-of-19) from 3-point range. He was the only American to log more than 200 minutes (205) during the nine-game tournament.
Williams-Goss, a native of Henderson, NV., who attended Findlay Prep, will join the Huskies’ this fall as part of a four-man recruiting class. Also joining are: Mike Anderson (Hartford, CT./Moberly MO., Area CC), Darin Johnson (Sacramento/Sheldon) and Jahmel Taylor (Los Angeles/Pacific Hills).
Williams-Goss also played in the McDonald’s All-America game.

Romar usually recruits some pretty good guards. Let’s hope Nigel Williams-Goss isn’t a one and done.
