Mike Anderson and the Huskies, clobbered at Cal Wednesday, take on Stanford Saturday night at Maples Pavilion. / Drew McKenzie, Sportspress Northwest

GAME:  Washington (11-7 overall, 3-2 Pac-12) at Stanford (11-5 overall, 2-2 Pac-12). WHEN: Saturday, 8 p.m., Maples Pavilion, Palo Alto, CA. TYPE: Conference. MEETING: 139th (Cardinal leads 70-68). RANKINGS: Neither school ranked. COACHES: Lorenzo Romar, Washington; Johnny Dawkins, Stanford. TV: ESPNU. RADIO: KJR 950 AM

Washington had a nice run going through the first two weeks of Pac-12 play, winning three of four and narrowly losing at No. 1 Arizona. But the Huskies ran into a superior, much taller Cal team. Despite an early 8-2 lead, UW withered fast and suffered its most lopsided loss of the season, 82-56. So out of sorts were the Huskies that they missed their first eight 3-point attempts.

UW coach Lorenzo Romar said the clobbering doesn’t erase the positive momentum his team built while going 3-1 in the first four league games.

“We were just out of sorts. We had a setback against a very good basketball team, and we have another game on Saturday,” Romar said. “We have to regroup and come back and play. Obviously we want to do a better job and be better prepared.”

Stanford is coming off an 80-48 victory over Washington State in a game in which Josh Huestis and Anthony Brown scored 15 points apiece and Marcus Allen added a career-high 11 points off the bench.

Chason Randle is Stanford’s leading scorer at 18.6, followed by Dwight Powell at 14.0 and Brown at 13.8. Huestis is Stanford’s top rebounder at 7.9 per game.

SERIES: Dates to Feb. 1, 1916, when Washington won 35-19 at Palo Alto. The Huskies have dominated in recent years, taking nine of the past 10 meetings, including three in a row. The schools last met Jan. 12, 2013, the Huskies winning 65-60. C.J. Wilcox led Washington with 27 points.
