At night in Glendale, disgraced Jesus Montero homered twice and drove in three runs as the Mariners beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-5. During the day in Scottsdale, Brad Miller and Michael Saunders each hit two-run home runs in the first inning and starting pitcher Erasmo Ramirez had four scoreless innings in an 18-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants.
Against the Giants, Stefen Romero doubled, homered, drove in two runs and threw out Dee Gordon at the plate to end the fifth inning. Justin Smoak hit a two-run homer.
Against the Giants, starter Blake Beavan allowed three runs, one earned, in three innings for the win.
