According to an ESPN report Thursday night, free agent defensive end Jared Allen is making his second visit to Seattle. He was at Seahawks headquarters over the weekend, then flew to Dallas for a Tuesday meeting. But the Cowboys spent most of their remaining cap room Thursday to sign DE Henry Melton, a hometown guy who played at the University of Texas.
ESPN reporter Ed Werder in Dallas tweeted Allen’s plans.

Allen, who last year had 11 sacks with the Minnesota Vikings, said before free agency that he would consider retiring if he didn’t get a market value deal. He also said he wanted to play somewhere with a chance to win.
Allen, 32, probably knew what Seattle was prepared to offer after his first visit, so a return seems to suggest the Seahawks were at least close. The Seahawks have two quality ends under contract in Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril, but cut Chris Clemons and Red Bryant in free agency to save room under the cap.
The Seahawks don’t want to guarantee more than a single year to Allen, because they will need cap room to pay for upgrades to FS Earl Thomas, CB Richard Sherman and QB Russell Wilson

I’d be surprised if Allen sticks with the team. He could easily be like Antoine Winfield and get cut before the season. The Hawks want to stay young. He most Iikely wants at least a two year deal. He’ll probably wait to see if someone will give him a longer deal than what the Hawks will give him.
I would NOT be surprised at all if Allen signed and stays with the Hawks. Winfield was about 4 years older and we had more depth at CB last year than we have at DE this year. Allen says he’ll retire if he doesn’t get the money he wants but if he has the opportunity to make around $5 million and have a great shot at a Superbowl 49 ring I think he’d be a fool not too take that opportunity. I think Allen child be this year’s Bennett, which is pretty awesome since we already have Bennett
