The University of Washington received a verbal commitment from Jake Browning, a highly pursued 6-foot-2, 202-pound junior quarterback from Folsom (CA.) High School. Scout.com rates Browning a four-star prospect and the No. 7 quarterback in his recruiting class. He threw for 5,737 yards and 75 touchdowns last season after throwing for 5,248 yards and 63 TDs as a sophomore.

Browning’s gaudy stats in 2013 made him the California Gatorade State Player of the Year and the Maxpreps National Junior Player of the Year.

According to 245sports.com, Browning was chased by Alabama, Colorado, Oklahoma State and Boise State, among others. New UW head coach Chris Petersen coached the Broncos last season.

These are some of Browning’s video highlights.

  1. This is great news: Signing up a 4 star QB from Cal this early really lets the other kids know that Petersen is bringing on board quality talent. This gives the Huskies 3 commits for this class!

  2. Between Browning and K.J. Carta-Samuels the Dawgs have some QBs stocked up. Cyler Miles has got to be looking over his shoulder.
