Richard Sherman is serving up another “rant,” but this one is a self-parody that is a commercial for Swedish Cancer Institute’s personalized medicine program and its pursuit of successful treatments.

Published Sunday on You Tube, the star cornerback does a solo take-off on his infamous rant to TV interviewer Erin Andrews after the Seahawks’ win over San Francisco in January.

Only this time, he’s endorsing Swedish’s new weapon in the search for a cure.

“Hey, cancer! You want to know what happens when the Swedish Cancer Institute comes after you? Game!” Sherman said in the 30-second spot. “Swedish Cancer Institute is the best in the game, and when you try with some weak cancer cells like that, that’s the result. They can intercept the genetic profile of a cancer cell and then prescribe the personalized therapy. That’s not mediocre. That’s extraordinary.”

Personalized medicine is a scientific approach to cancer treatment that uses DNA sequencing of a patient’s cancer cells so doctors can choose the most effective, targeted treatment for specific cancers.

Swedish raised $3.9 million for the personalized medicine program at its April 26 Celebrate Swedish Gala.

  1. I’m familar with the Swedish Cancer Institute so I’m thrilled that Sherm is doing this with them. They’ve been around for 80 years but remain at the forefront in the latest technologies and practices in cancer care. DNA sequencing ultimately will result in more early dectection in cancer diagnosis, the key to survival, as well as more non-invasive treatments as well as how to treat the specific patient for their needs. Huge props to Richard for this from me.
