Former University of Washington quarterback Keith Price, who passed through seven rounds of the draft without getting selected, joined the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent. Price confirmed it on his Twitter account, saying, “Thank you Seahawks for this awesome opportunity! Back to Seattle I go.”
A Los Angeles native, Price was not invited to the NFL combine despite setting numerous passing records during his career at the University of Washington. He completed 64 percent of his passes for 8,921 yards and a school-record 75 touchdowns in three years as a starter.
Price, 6-foot-1 and 202 pounds, will be the fifth quarterback on Seattle’s roster, joining starter Russell Wilson, along with veterans Tarvaris Jackson, B.J. Daniels and recently acquired Terrelle Pryor, who came over in a trade with the Oakland Raiders.
The Seahawks Saturday also agreed to terms with eight other free agents, including USC S Dion Bailey, Central Arkansas TE Chase Dixon, Penn State OT Garry Gilliam, Eastern Washington DT Andru Pulu, Montana LB Brock Coyle, Oklahoma G Bronson Irwin, Texas DE Jackson Jeffcoat and South Carolina CB Jimmy LeGree.
When asked recently about Price, coach Pete Carroll said: “We had a good look at him obviously, being a local kid and all. We’ve seen him for years, and we had a really good look at him at his workouts. He came here for our local workout. We feel very, very comfortable with him. We know that he’s got a big upside, and he seemed to fit in really well with our coaches. So we just feel really comfortable and we think we can give him a real good shot at it.”
Price has spent considerable time over the past two years working out with Wilson.
Another former Husky, WR Kevin Smith, reportedly agreed to sign with the Arizona Cardinals.
Two Huskies were selected in the draft that ended Saturday night. TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins was selected in the second round, 38th overall, by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. RB Bishop Sankey went 54th overall to the Tennessee Titans. Sankey was the first running back taken.

Price had a GREAT soph year when Nussmeier was teh offensive coordinator. when he then left for Alabama, Keith had his two lesser years junior and senior.
His junior year he had a new OC, was hurt most of the year (constantly sacked) AND had a horrible line; senior year he still had the same OC.
If Nussmeier had stayed at UW there is no telling how good Price’ last two years would have been. Remember, his stats as a SOPH were 33-11 (TD/INT) with a 161 QBR AND he completely outplayed RG III in the 2011 Alamo Bowl where he established the ALL TIME record for TD’s in a bowl game, which still stands, at 7!
Keith will do well in the Seahawk system and should surprise a lot of people.
I thought there was a chance this would happen and I’m happy that it did. He’ll get a fair shot to make the team. He’ll probably go on the Developmental Squad but if he can play then Pryor and Daniels better watch out.
