After beating PSA Elite of the U.S. Amateur Soccer Association 5-0 at Starfire Stadium in Tukwila Wednesday night, the Sounders continue pursuit of another U.S. Open Cup championship at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday with a fifth-round match against the San Jose Earthquakes.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday and are available at SoundersFC.com/tickets.

San Jose defeated USL-Pro side Sacramento Republic 2-1 June 11.

The Sounders won three Open Cups in a row from 2009-11, the first club in 42 years to do so.

After a three-week hiatus for World Cup group play, the Sounders return to MLS action June 28 at D.C. United.

  1. I like the U.S. Open Cup. There’s no competition like it in any team sport in America. Even though all the amateur teams are now out of contention, they get a “Hoosiers”-like chance to play against the big boys. Don’t try making sense out of the bracket, though (http://thecup.us/2014-us-open-cup-bracket/). It’s more convoluted than a Casey Stengel interview.

  2. Something of a drought for the club after winning their first three. I like being able to call the Cup our own. Hope they can claim it again.
