The Seahawks lopped eight players from their 90-man roster Monday, terminating the contracts of veteran T Wade Smith and CB Terrell Thomas and waiving T Cory Brandon, RB Demitrius Bronson, S Mike Dobson, DE Jackson Jeffcoat, WR Kevin Smith and CB Thomas Wolfe. The cuts leave Seattle with 82 players with a mandatory cutdown to 75 due by 1 p.m. Tuesday.

As veterans, Wade Smith and Thomas become automatic free agents. The others will pass through waivers and teams can claim them based on their order of 2013 finish.

The cuts included no surprises. Kevin Smith played his college football at the University of Washington. He was originally drafted by the Arizona Cardinals. After his release, he signed with Jacksonville, which also released him. He signed with the Seahawks in May.

Bronson, from Kentwood High School in Auburn, starred at Eastern Washington after beginning his career with the Washington Huskies.

The Seahawks play their fourth and final preseason game Thursday at 7 p.m. at Oakland.
