Coach Chris Petersen will return to his 13-year home of Boise State in the Huskies’ 2015 football season opener, and later match up with his Washington predecessor, USC’s Steve Sarkisian, Oct. 8 in Los Angeles.
The release of Pac-12 Conference schedule Tuesday night has Washington State opening at home against Portland State before flying to New Jersey for a rematch with Rutgers.
The Huskies opener will be either Thursday, Sept. 3 or Friday, Sept. 4 depending on TV networks’ desires.
The Huskies have two other weekday games — the Trojans game on a Thursday and the Friday Apple Cup, which again will be Friday, the day after Thanksgiving Nov. 26.
Starting with the USC game, The Huskies have a brutal stretch that includes hosting Oregon Oct. 17 and at Stanford Oct. 24.
The Huskies skip UCLA and Colorado, and the Cougars miss UCLA and Utah.

The Dawgs have no bye week? That’s interesting. Not complaining.
The Huskies have two bye weeks Sept 12th and Sept 19th it is embarrassing.
Utah State is not a bye. They went 7-6, 11-2 and 9-5 the last three years, winning the Mountain West Conference title in 2012 and have been to a bowl game each year. I imagine Sacramento State is on the schedule so the players with familties from the Sacramento area will have reason to come see them play, including Shaq Thompson who hails from Sacramento.
Either that or a school who was originally supposed to take that date dropped out and Sacramento State was willing to take it.
