Two of Paul Allen’s signature possessions, the Seahawks and EMP Museum, have combined on a new exhibition: “We are 12: The Seattle Seahawks and the Road to Victory” celebrating the NFL’s most vocal following. The exhibit opens at 1 p.m. Oct. 14.
A team release said the exhibit will feature interactive experiences, rich multimedia, exclusive interviews and artifacts representing significant Seahawks milestones. Included for display are the Vince Lombardi Trophy, Super Bowl XLVIII ring, a game-used Super Bowl XLVIII football, original player uniforms, helmets, and handwritten coach’s notes.
An interactive “Call the Play” allows visitors to hear what it’s like to be the opposing team playing in the loudest stadium in the NFL. An infographic display illustrates facts that include the height of CB Richard Sherman’s vertical jump, the size of QB Russell Wilson’s hand and xrecord-breaking decibel level inside CenturyLink Field.
A special section dedicated to 12s will showcase personal stories and interviews that demonstrate the important role fans have played in the team’s success. Fans are invited to submit a photo showing fan spirit and a brief statement explaining what the Seahawks mean, post it to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram using the hashtag #WeAre12atEMP for potential use in the exhibit.
“The We Are 12 exhibit is for the 12s,” said Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll. “It honors their tremendous support and unique connection with this team. It is a place to celebrate the 12s for who they are and what they stand for. We are hoping the exhibit is something they will take great pride in. After all, it’s here because of them.”
