The Seahawks, having dropped to third place in the NFC West after San Francisco’s victory over St. Louis Monday night, Tuesday signed DE Greg Scruggs and released safety Steven Terrell. The Seahawks, who jettisoned Scruggs Friday after he was inactive for the first four games of the season, drafted Scruggs with the 25th pick in the seventh round (232nd overall) in 2012.

Scruggs played in 11 games his rookie season in 2012 and had six tackles (one solo) and two sacks. He was placed on injured reserve (knee) in 2013.

Terrell was signed to Seattle’s active roster Saturday. He was with the Seahawks previously, signing as a free agent July 26 and cut Aug. 30 then re-signed to the practice squad  Sept. 1. He spent parts of 2013 on both Jacksonville and Houston’s practice squads.

The Seahawks (3-2), coming off a 30-23 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, play the St. Louis Rams in the Edward Jones Dome  Sunday at 10 a.m. The game will be televised by FOX.

  1. The Hawks must be expecting Chancellor to play this weekend and want more depth on the D-Line.
