Puyallup’s Ryan Moore shot a 5-under par 67 Sunday to win the CIMB Classic in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Moore finished 17-under 271, defeated three others by three strokes and became the first player to defend a title on the PGA Tour since Tiger Woods at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2013.
Sergio Garcia (69), Kevin Na (70) and Gary Woodland (67) finished in a three-way tie for second place.
Moore collected eight birdies vs. three bogeys in the final round in earning the fourth PGA Tour victory of his career. Moore drained birdies at the 14th and 17th holes to secure the victory, worth $1,260,000.
“It was incredible to finish the way I did coming down those last few holes,” Moore said. “I like to tell myself all the time that I’m a closer. Let’s just do what we can, let’s hit good shots and close this thing. I was able to do that.”
