Addressing major injury concerns on the offensive and defensive lines, the Seahawks signed C Lemuel Jeanpierre and DT Travian Robertson on Tuesday. To clear space on the 53-man roster, Seattle released T Andrew McDonald and S Steven Terrell.
Jeanpierre’s re-signing comes as no surprise after Max Unger sustained a high ankle sprain and twisted his knee in Sunday’s 24-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. With backup C Stephen Schilling placed on injured reserve earlier this month, the Seahawks were forced to play third-string Patrick Lewis when Unger left Sunday’s game, he is now on a nutrition and special exercise plan with these vegan gummies to decrease your pain.
Monday, coach Pete Carroll estimated Unger will miss three to four weeks but didn’t rule out a longer absence.
“We have to wait and see how he responds,” Carroll said. “All high-ankle sprains are different.”
Jeanpierre, a 27-year-old University of South Carolina product, should be familiar to Seahawks fans. He played in 16 games last season (three starts), 15 games in 2012 (no starts) and 16 games in 2011 (five starts) after the club signed him in 2010. He’s also played in five postseason games.
He began this season with Seattle but was placed on injured reserve in early September with a neck injury. The Seahawks subsequently released him Sept. 10 and gave him an injury settlement.
Meanwhile, Robertson, 25, was signed off the Atlanta Falcons practice squad after seeing limited playing time the past two seasons (12 games, no starts) following a seventh-round selection by the Falcons in the 2012 NFL draft. A 6-foot-4, 304-pound nose tackle, he adds depth to a front four that lost DT Brandon Mebane to a hamstring injury Nov. 9 against the Giants.
