Sophomore Nigel Williams-Goss scored 21 points, contributed a tournament-record 12 assists and seven rebounds, and Andrew Andrews hit a pair of 3-pointers in the stretch as Washington rallied for an 80-70 victory over Long Beach State Friday night in the semifinals of the Wooden Legacy Classic in Fullerton, CA. The Huskies improved to 5-0 and will meet UTEP for the tournament championship Sunday at 7 p.m.
The Huskies, 5-0 to start a season for the first time since 2009-10, trailed 54-45 in the second half but went on a 13-3 run to take a 58-57 lead on a Mike Anderson jumper at 9:43. Andrews hit the first of his two key 3-pointers with 2:47 left to give Washington a 69-65 lead, and hit the second at the 1:23 mark, lifting UW to a 72-65 advantage.
Anderson hit two free throws and a layup inside of a minute to play, enabling the Huskies to remain, along with Arizona (6-0), one of only two Pac-12 teams with an unblemished record.
The Huskies held Long Beach State to one field goal over the final five minutes.
Anderson finished with 16 points and Robert Upshaw came off the bench to add 12 and five blocked shots. Andrews scored 10 points and Donaven Dorsey had nine points off the bench.
Mike Caffey scored 18 points for Long Beach (3-4) while Deonate North and Temidayo Yussuf each added 16 points.

I think Jarreau is making a huge impact on the team. Though he isn’t averaging a lot of minutes. points or boards he gives the team some needed height on the front court and on court experience. Mike Anderson might be the most consistent rebounder even though he plays SG. Can’t wait for league play to start.
Is anyone else bothered by the fact that only three players on the entire team are from the state of Washington. So much for representing the state. I wish more players would choose to play for their homestate schools
