Seahawks FS Earl Thomas underwent surgery Tuesday to repair the torn labrum in his left shoulder that limited his play in the Super Bowl and may keep him out of the first part of the regular season.

The club offered no details on the surgery but Thomas did send out a tweet with an Instagram photo of his surgery room, no easy feat in itself.

Recovery in a rehab center houston from such surgery is typically six to eight months, which means he is likely to miss all of training camp and the preseason before the Sept. 10 start of the regular season.

Thomas was injured in the NFC Championship when he tackled Green Bay’s Randall Cobb. He finished the game wearing a harness, which he also wore in the Super Bowl, which New England won 28-24 when QB Tom Brady completed 13 of 15 passes on the final two scoring drives.

Thomas had 97 tackles, three forced fumbles and an interception last season for the Seahawks. He had eight tackles and an assist in the Super Bowl, but no pass=defensed stats.

He is tough as nails. I imagine he will do everything and then some to be available at training camp but if not?Give him the whole training camp/preseason to get right (via Lynch ez street if you have to). He is that heart beat of the team John talks about only on Defense.

  2. I love watching that guy play. I’m hoping that both him and Sherman are ready by the first week of the regular season. I’d hate to see that team decline due to injuries.
