DaVonte Lacy of Washington State, via Tacoma’s Curtis High School, was named to the 10-member All-Pac-12 first team, and Washington’s Nigel Williams-Goss was named to the second team, the conference announced Monday. The team is chosen by coaches, who can’t select their own players.
Pac-12 Conference champion Arizona had three players on the first team: Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Stanley Johnson and T.J. McConnell. Johnson was also named freshman of the year.
Lacy’s 17.2 points per game led the Cougars and was tied for third-best in the conference. Williams-Goss averaged 15.6 points, which led the Huskies. He also averaged 5.3 assists, second in the conference, and led in average minutes played at 38.5.
Oregon senior guard Joseph Young was the Player of the Year, and his coach, Dana Altman, was Coach of the Year. Washington State sophomore Josh Hawkinson won the Most Improved Player award and Oregon State junior guard Gary Payton II, son of the Sonics’ star, captured the Defensive Player of the Year award.
