In the search to fill the void created by the March trade of C Max Unger, the Seahawks re-signed their own free agent, Lemuel Jeanpierre, Monday, making for a potential third term of service over five years for 27-year-old from the other USC — University of South Carolina.
The undrafted Jeanpierre, who was waived prior to the 2014 season, was brought back Nov. 18 and started three games (Philadelphia and two vs. San Francisco) when Unger was injured. A 6-1, 301-pounder, he has started 11 times in 53 games played, and has seen action in seven post-season games.
Patrick Lewis, who supplanted Jeanpierre by the end of season as Unger’s backup, is the only other experienced center on the roster, although the Seahawks added a free agent, Jared Wheeler.
The Seahawks have had a few centers in for a visit, but one of the top in the free agent class, Stefen Wisniewski, signed with Jacksonville Saturday.
The Seahawks began a voluntary, two-week strength and conditioning program Monday. DT Michael Bennett, who has expressed unhappiness with his four-year contract he signed last season, is reportedly skipping the camp.

Jeanpierre IS a 300-pounder and he DOES know the offense. Along with Lewis and Wheeler, he helps give the Seahawks three backups but no starters. Welcome back, Lem, but Schneider will keep looking.
Draft Hroniss Grasu might be a good pick in the 2nd round.
