The American League Monday selected Mariners infielder/outfielder Brad Miller as its Player of the Week for May 11-17. The 25-year-old Miller hit .429 (9×21) with six runs scored, three doubles, four home runs and five RBIs in two games vs. the San Diego Padres and four against thge Boston Red Sox. Miller reached base at a .500 pace and slugged 1.143 with a 1.643 OPS.
Miller hit four home runs over his past five games after hitting one home run in the first 30 games. Over his last two, Miller has three home runs, including his fifth career multi-home run game Saturday.
Miller started three games at designated hitter, two at shortstop and made his major league debut in left field. Overall, Miller is batting .264 (29×110).
This is the second career weekly honor for Miller, who also earned the award July 22, 2013. Miller is the second Mariners honoree this season, joining Nelson Cruz (April 13-19).
The Mariners, 6-3 on a home stand that concluded Sunday, begin a nine-game road trip Tuesday night in Baltimore (first pitch 4:05 p.m., PT). RHP Taijuan Walker (1-4, 7.22) will oppose Baltimore RHP Miguel Gonzalez (4-2, 2.93).

Not something I would have predicted at the beginning of the season. Well earned and hopefully he’ll continue in that direction.
