The Sounders Monday announced their 2015 CONCACAF Champions League schedule against the Vancouver Whitecaps and CD Olimpia of Honduras. The Sounders will host Group F matches Aug. 19 against CD Olimpia and Sept. 23 against Vancouver at CenturyLink Field, and travel Aug. 5 to Vancouver and Aug. 26 to Honduras.
All matches are scheduled to start at 7 p.m., PT.
This will mark Seattle’s fourth appearance in the CONCACAF tournament that consists of the top club teams from North America, Central America and the Caribbean. The Sounders qualified for the 2015-16 event after capturing the 2014 U.S. Open Cup and MSL Supporters’ Shield trophy.
Seattle advanced out of group stage in the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 tournaments. In the latter, the Sounders became the first MLS team to oust a Mexican side when it defeated Tigres UANL in the quarterfinals.
The 2015-2016 competition consists of eight groups of three teams each. Each will play the other two teams in its group twice, one home and one away, with each group winner advancing to the knockout stage.
The Sounders, with three consecutive MLS losses, return to league play at 8 p.m. Friday when they host Eastern Conference leader D.C. United at CenturyLink Field (JoeTV).
Sounders full season ticket holders already have access to the CONCACAF matches via their ticket packages. Single-match ticketing information and broadcast details will be made available by the club in the weeks ahead.
