The Mariners Friday recalled RHP Tom Wilhelmsen from AAA Tacoma to fill a roster spot vacated when RHP Danny Farquhar was sent to the Rainiers prior to the All-Star break. Wilhelmsen is available when Seattle begins a three-game series at Yankee Stadium Friday  (4:05 p.m., PT).

Wilhelmsen, 31, gave up no runs with two strikeouts in four innings with Tacoma after being optioned July 3. With Seattle, he went 1-2 with a 4.68 ERA (13 ER, 25.0 IP) with 28 strikeouts in 22 relief appearances, including a 12.15 ERA (9 ER, 6.2 IP) over his last seven appearances after starting the season 1.96 ERA (4 ER, 18.1 IP) with 21 strikeouts in his first 15 games.

The Mariners are not expected to recall starting RHP J.A. Happ until at least Monday, when the club begins a series at Comerica Park in Detroit.

Lefty Mike Montgomery (4-3, 2.29) will pitch the first of the three-game series against he Yankees opposite RHP Masahiro Tanaka (5-3, 3.63). The Mariners begin the second half of play 41-48, 7.5 games behind the L.A. Angels in the AL West.

  1. yeah, and? Didn’t I already read this about 24 times this year? The JackieZ shuffle is in full swing as the failure to put a winning TEAM together — balanced, apt for the home stadium, complementary in their strengths– eats at the fan base. Sadly, it has no impact on equity appreciation, no impact on Lincoln except when he gets asked an annoying question about baseball (of all things!) from a “dumbest guy in the room” journalist. I mean really. Don’t these guys know rthe ONLY game in Lincolnland is equity appreciation and Rootcash? And for that, the ownership and board worship him.
