Safety Earl Thomas, sidelined from full contact since suffering a torn labrum in his shoulder in January’s NFC Championship, has been given the full go-ahead for Sunday’s season opener against the St. Louis Rams at the Edward Jones Dome. For months, Thomas was considered an unlikely participant for Week 1, but said Thursday he’s 100 percent and ready.

“No limitations,” said Thomas, a multiple Pro Bowler. “I’m going to go out there and let it loose. I’m excited to get out there and just play football.”

Thomas originally balked at wearing a shoulder harness, but said he changed his mind after the first day of training camp.

“I tried to go out there without it, but then I came to my senses,” said Thomas. “I hate the harness, but I’ve got to wear it. That’s the way the cards are dealt right now.”

Thomas said he’s not concerned about the shoulder or absorbing his first hit.

“I’ve been hitting bags and doing a lot of rehab,” he said. “I’ve been putting a lot of pressure on my shoulder, so I’m very confident in it.”

“He worked very hard,” said coach Pete Carroll. “He had a fantastic offseason of conditioning. He’s run through camp the whole time. He’s been getting work by our trainer prior to when he came back to practice, and he’s been running like crazy. I don’t see any indication that he’s not ready.”

Thomas will take the field at the Edward Jones Dome without safety partner Kam Chancellor, who is holding out in an attempt to force the Seahawks to move 2017 money he is due under the terms of his contract to 2016. Chancellor won’t play Sunday as the stalemate continues.

“It’s going to be different playing without Kam,” said Thomas. “But it’s his choice, his decision. We’ll see how it plays out.”

Thomas said his role in the defense won’t change with Chancellor missing and Dion Bailey taking Chancellor’s place.

“We never really change what we do on defense. If we change anything, in my mind, it made me a little bit sharper. I depended on Kam to say, ‘You need to get on this side or that side.’ It put me in the playbook a little bit more. I rely on instinct and Kam was more the mental guy.”

The Cleveland Browns Thursday claimed RB Robert Turbin, let go by the Seahawks Wednesday following an injury settlement after he was placed on injured reserve. Turbin, who suffered a high ankle sprain during Seattle’s preseason game with San Diego, will be eligible to join the Browns when he has recovered, probably in five-to-six weeks. The Seahawks selected Turbin the fourth round of the 2012 draft and he played in 48 games.

  1. Nothing against Bailey, but I sure wish Kam was playing. Seems like moving some money from 2017 to 2016 wouldn’t be that big a deal. But what do I know? Isn’t that what they did for Marshawn?
