Former University of Washington quarterback Mark Brunell will be inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame Dec. 30 as a member of the 2015 class, the Tournament of Roses announced Thursday. Brunell played in three Rose Bowls (1991, 1992, 1993) and was the MVP in 1991 when he threw two touchdown passes and ran for two scores in the Huskies’ 46-34 victory over Iowa.
In the 1992 game, Brunell went 7-for-8 with a touchdown in Washington’s 34-14 victory over Michigan that clinched a share of the national championship. A year later, Brunell started and completed 18-of-30 for 308 yards and two TDs. In all, Brunell passed for five touchdowns and ran for two in his Rose Bowl career.
Brunell will be inducted in Pasadena along with Fritz Pollard (Brown), Tyrone Wheatley (Michigan) and Jim Muldoon (Pac-10 Conference).
Brunell is the eighth Husky player or coach to earn a spot in the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame, which inducted its first class in 1989. Other Huskies in the Hall: Bob Schloredt (1991), George Wilson (1991), Jim Owens (1992), Don James (1994), Warren Moon (1997), Steve Emtman (2006), George Fleming (2011).
Following his senior year, Brunell played 19 seasons in the NFL, passing for 32,072 yards and 184 touchdowns as a member of the Packers, Jaguars, Redskins, Saints and Jets. He was a three-time Pro Bowl selection and won a Super Bowl with the Saints in 2010.

Well deserved. Big fan of Mark’s when he was a Dawg.
He has always been one of my favorite Dawgs and this is well deserved. Brunell was a real class act @ UW, having met him, and should be considered one of UW’s best players of all time. He was a phenomenal college QB and that he was beaten out by Hobert in 1991 was testament to how UW used to be “QB U”: Fans were used to excellent QB play during James’ years.
The Jaguars were absolute fools to bench and then trade him.
