He disagreed that it was even a penalty, but Seahawks DE Michael Bennett was fined $20,000 Friday by the NFL after a hit on QB Andy Dalton in Sunday’s loss at Cincinnati to the Bengals.
Late in the second quarter during an end-zone interception by FS Earl Thomas that was returned 68 yards, Bennett was flagged for unnecessary roughness as he knocked down Dalton and kept hitting him twice more as he tried to get up.
The Seahawks lost 50 yards of field position. They came back to score a field goal just before halftime but lost out on a shot at a touchdown in a 27-24 overtime loss.
Carroll said Monday that Bennett “lost his mind a little bit,” calling the foul “a real mistake.”
Bennett defended himself Wednesday, saying he “wasn’t out of control . . . I hit him, he got back up. I pushed him back down, he got back up. I pushed him down again. What was I supposed to do, let him get back up?”
Bennett claimed that the flag was because Dalton is a quarterback.
The fine was Bennett’s third this season. He was fined $8,861 for his role in a fight against the Green Bay Packers, and in the preseason was fined $17,363 for roughing Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith.
Bennett has drawn seven penalties in 2015, tied for second-most in the NFL. Three were declined. The leader is Brandon Browner, a former Seahawk, with nine.

Bennett is a damn dummy and needs to cleanup his game.
Maybe he’ll take page out of Tom Brady’s book and sue the NFL???
