The Seahawks plan to lift the team’s suspension of FB Derrick Coleman and, pending a physical exam, may return him to play Thursday against the 49ers in Santa Clara, CA., according to coach Pete Carroll Monday.
“We will find out the timing on that as soon as we can,” he said. “We really don’t have a lot have any information for you about what’s going on. We’ve not received stuff, other to know the basics and the fundamentals of it.”
Coleman was arrested and jailed for more than 24 hours by Bellevue police for vehicular assault and leaving the scene of an accident around 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Factoria area after the truck he was driving hit the back of a car and injured the driver. Police suspected drugs or alcohol were involved, which Coleman denied. He submitted to a blood test.
He was released Friday afternoon without charges filed, pending completion of a police investigation.
Police reported Coleman was uninjured, but Carroll said he was examined by an outside physician, not team doctors, because of the suspension.
“We did see him,” Carroll said. “We’ve also seen the video tapes of his meetings with the police, and so we feel like we are doing the right thing right now.”
Coleman is usually the rushing game’s lead blocker and is a key player on special teams.

I’m glad to hear this. Since no charges have been filed against Coleman, it seems right that he be reinstated. I strongly suspect the toxicology tests will find that he was “clean”. In any event it’s not Coleman’s fault that the labs won’t have any results for “weeks”. The county (or state?) government should hire more analysts to eliminate the backlog, but of course what do they care.
