The Pac-12 Conference Monday selected Washington State quarterback Luke Falk as its offensive player of the week for the second time this season, following his season-high 514 passing yards and five touchdowns with no interceptions in the Cougars’ 45-42 victory over Arizona Saturday in Tucson. Falk has thrown 16 TDs in his past three games and Washington State is off to a 5-1 start, its best since 2003.

Falk completed 47 of 62 passes  (.758) and posted a passer efficiency rating of 172. Sunday, Falk was named the Walter Camp National FBS player of the week, the first Cougar to receive the honor since 2004.

After Arizona cut WSU’s lead to 38-35 with 8:01 to play, Falk engineered an 11-play, 76-yard drive that consumed 5:58 and culminated with his nine-yard touchdown pass to Gabe Marks, his fourth score of the game. Falk went 6-for-6 for 63 yards on the drive and added 17 rushing yards. In the first half, Falk completed 30 of 38 (79 percent) for 335 yards and four TDs. He connected with Marks for three of those scores (6, 43, 2) and Kyrin Priester for one (6 yards).

This is the third career player of the week award for Falk. He earned the honor following his 478-yard, four-touchdown game earlier this season at Rutgers, and beat Oregon State last season on the road in his first career start.

Falk enters the week second in the NCAA in passing (412.1), third in total offense (403.3) and fourth in passing touchdowns (26). He leads the Pac-12 in all three categories.

The Cougars host Stanford at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night at Martin Stadium. ESPN considered presenting its Gameday program from Pullman, but decided Monday to base the show in Philadelphia, site of the Temple-Notre Dame game.

  1. If UW had an OC that was worth a shxx we would have a QB that performed also.
I am on hold with Peterson, as his bringing over 8 of 9 assistants from Boise makes absolutely no sense, especially when the AD has an open check book for paying assistants.
Smith, the OC, was QB coach at Boise and he;s supposed to be an OC in the PAC-12? Yeah, sure thing.
I am concerned Chris is a bit too full of himself and is not open to new ideas and others’ opinion.
