The Washington Huskies (5-2) went from 11 points down in the first half to leads as large as 22 in the second half, taking an easy 87-69 win Sunday night at Hec Ed Pavilion over Cal-State Fullerton, voted in a media poll to finish last in the Big West Conference.
Dejounte Murray had 17 points and fellow freshman Matisse Thybulle had 16, while Pac-12 Conference scoring leader Andrew Andrews, averaging 21.6 points, had a season-low 15 as coach Lorenzo Romar emptied his bench late.
Fullerton (6-2), which beat Seattle University Friday at KeyArena, was led by Malcolm Brooks with 20 points.
Washington took the lead for the first time on Thybulle’s 3-pointer with 4:23 in the first half and kept the lead the rest of the way.
Washington continues an eight-game homestand against Texas Christian University at 8 p.m. Tuesday. It is the first time the Huskies have played eight in a row at home since the 1949-50 season.
