The Seahawks Wednesday signed TE Anthony McCoy and S Akeem Davis to their 53-man roster, released TE Chase Coffman and made practice-squad moves with three players. McCoy played in 34 games for Seattle between 2010-12 before Achilles tendon injuries derailed his next two seasons.
McCoy, a USC graduate who has 31 receptions for 437 yards and three touchdowns as a Seahawk, started three games for the Washington Redskins this season before being released Nov. 23. In the absence of Jimmy Graham, out for the season with knee surgery, coach Pete Carroll said McCoy is familiar enough with the offense to see action in Baltimore when the Seahawks (7-5) play the Ravens (4-8) at 10 a.m. Sunday (FOX).
“He will play in this game and be a part of it,” Carroll said.
Davis spent time in Seattle’s rookie camp in 2013 and signed with the Redskins as a free agent in April, 2014. He has also played for the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Carroll said he sees Davis as a factor on special teams, taking on some of the tasks of injured WR Ricardo Lockette.
The Seahawks signed WRs Antwan Goodley and CB Douglas McNeil III to the practice squad after releasing WR Deshon Foxx from the practice squad. Foxx signed with Seattle Dec. 1. McNeil III re-signed after being released Dec. 3.
