The NFL Monday established the selection order of the April 28-30 draft, in which the Seahawks will have a nine picks, including one in the first round, one in the second, two in the third, one each in the fourth, fifth and sixth rounds, and two in the seventh. Three of Seattle picks are compensatory, awarded to the club last week for losing top-tier free agents a year ago.
The first round begins at 4 p.m. PT April 28. The second and third rounds start at 3 p.m. April 29. Rounds four through seven begin at 8 a.m. April 30. Chicago is the host city for the second year.
The Tennessee Titans own the first pick, after laboring through a 3-13 campaign. The Cleveland Browns pick second, followed by the San Diego Chargers, Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars. A total of 253 selections will be made.
Seattle’s first pick is 26th overall in the first round. After picking 56th and 90th in the second and third rounds, respectively, the Seahawks will use (barring trades) their first compensatory pick at No. 97.
Seattle’s other compensatory picks will come at 171st in the fifth round and 215th in the sixth. Seattle’s first pick in the seventh round, 225th, was obtained from Dallas in a trade in September that sent RB Christine Michael to the Cowboys. Michael was subsequently waived by Dallas, then by Washington, before returning to Seattle late in the season.

Seattle’s compensatory picks were awarded as a result of the free-agent departures of CB Byron Maxwell (to Philadelphia) and G James Carpenter (New York Jets), as well as the defections of LB Malcolm Smith (Oakland), DB Jeron Johnson (Washington) and LB O’Brien Schofield (Atlanta).
The Seahawks have not made a pick in the first round since 2012, when they selected LB Bruce Irvin 15th out of West Virginia. Irvin last month left the Seahawks in free agency for the Oakland Raiders.
During the John Schneider-Pete Carroll era (since 2010), the Seahawks on two other occasions used their No. 1 pick to take offensive linemen, Russell Okung in 2010 and Carpenter in 2011. As with Irvin, both ultimately departed in free agency.
