The Mariners became the first team in MLB history to have four individual players turn in multi-homer games on four consecutive days in the same season. Dae-Ho Lee Friday joined Nelson Cruz (Tuesday), Chris Iannetta (Wednesday) and Robinson Cano (Thursday) when he homered in the second and fourth innings.
Kyle Seager followed Lee’s three-run shot with a solo homer to put Seattle ahead 5-1 in the fifth on the way to a 7-5 triumph over Texas in the opener of a three-game series against Texas at Safeco Field.
Only two teams have had players turn in two-homer games on four consecutive days, the 1998 Cubs and the 2000 Indians. But both had a player do it twice during the four-game span — Chicago’s Sammy Sosa, and the Indians’ Jim Thome and Manny Ramirez.
One other franchise has had four different players hit multiple homers in four consecutive games, although it happened over two seasons. The Detroit Tigers accomplished the feat at the end of the 1985 season and the beginning of 1986.
