The Mariners Tuesday traded LHP Wade LeBlanc to the Pittsburgh Pirates for a player to be named later or cash. LeBlanc went 3-0 with one save and a 4.50 ERA in 11 games for Seattle this season, including three starts, before the club designated him for assignment Aug. 25.
The 32-year-old LeBlanc made one start for AAA Tacoma after he was outrighted, taking the loss versus El Paso Sept. 9 in the PCL playoffs.
The Mariners acquired LeBlanc from Toronto June 22 in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Prior to his acquisition, LeBlanc went 7-2 with a 1.71 ERA with AAA Buffalo.
LeBlanc is a veteran of eight MLB seasons with San Diego (2008-11), Miami (2012-13), Houston (2013), the Angels (2014), New York Yankees (2014) and Seattle. He has a combined record of 24-33 with a 4.48 ERA in 117 games, including 79 starts.
The Mariners (76-68) will play the middle game of a three-game series with the Angels Tuesday night in Anaheim. RHP Taijuan Walker (5-10, 4.64) will throw for Seattle opposite RHP Alex Meyer (0-2, 7.71). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Seattle has won a season-high tying six consecutive games. The Mariners are 9.5 games behind Texas in the AL West race and 2.5 back of Baltimore for the second wild card slot.
