The Huskies found a new weapon off the bench as Dominic Green had 20 points and six rebounds to help Washington clobber Western Kentucky 86-47 Friday night in the Global Sports Classic at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
The Huskies outscored the Hilltoppers 47-16 in the second half of the mismatch that UW led 39-31 at the half. Green was 7 of 11 from the field, including 4 of 6 from 3-point range.
“I didn’t see (Dominic) as superhuman or ‘Wow, he’s on tonight,'” coach Lorenzo Romar told reporters after the game. “He’s had many practices like that. To see him regain that touch was very encouraging for us.”
Markelle Fultz, averaging 25.5 points per game, was held to nine points on 3-of-14 shooting, his lowest output of the season. But he had 10 assists and eight rebounds.
“Even when (Fultz) doesn’t put the big numbers on the board, he has a major impact on the game,” Romar said.
The Huskies play Texas Christian, which Friday beat hometown UNLV 63-59, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
