According to multiple sources, including MLB.com, the Mariners Friday acquired LHP  Andrew Albers from the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations. The 31-year-old Albers has limited major league experience, but has a 12-3 record and  2.61 ERA record this season at AAA Gwinnett. The Mariners have yet to confirm the trade.

The Mariners have suffered a rash of injuries to their pitching staff, Friday placing ace James Paxton on the disabled list with a left pectoral strain. Two days ago, they placed David Phelps on the DL. Paxton, with a 12-3 record, is likely out three weeks.

Albers has only 17 major league appearances and a 2-5 record with a 4.41 ERA. He has made 12 starts over parts of three seasons with the Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays between 2013-16.

He spent this season with Atlanta’s AAA club. His most recent big league time was with the Twins in 2016 when he posted a 5.82 ERA in 17 innings over six games, including two starts.
