Despite putting a 48-16 pasting on Fresno State Saturday night, the Washington Huskies dropped one spot from No. 6 to No. 7 in the Associated Press college football rankings released Sunday. UW remained at No. 6 in the coaches poll in a week of shakeups involving Pac-12 schools.
Among them, Washington State (3-0) made the biggest move, jumping up three spots to No. 18 in the AP rankings after crushing Oregon State 52-23 behind Luke Falk’s six touchdown passes. The Cougars jumped four spots in the coaches poll to No. 18.
Stanford (1-2) and UCLA (2-1) dropped out of the AP Top 25. The Cardinal lost to San Diego State, 20-17, while the Bruins lost a shootout to Memphis, 48-45. Stanford and UCLA meet Saturday.
Utah (3-0) and Oregon (3-0) entered the AP Top 25 for the first time this season. The Utes defeated San Jose State 54-16 while the Ducks beat Wyoming 49-13. Despite beating Texas 27-24 in double overtime, USC (3-0) dropped from No. 4 to No. 5 in the AP poll.
Washington (3-0) collected 1,141 votes in the AP poll, up slightly from last week’s 1,124. In the coaches poll, UW collected 1,277 votes, up from last week’s 1,173. The Huskies play Colorado in Boulder Saturday.
Alabama remained No. 1 in both polls. Clemson made a major move in the AP poll, going from 15th to No. 2 after beating Louisville 47-21. Clemson is also No. 2 in the coaches poll after starting the weekend at No. 6.
