Following its 37-10 romp over Colorado Saturday night in Boulder, the University of Washington (4-0) moved up one spot to No. 6 in the weekly Associated Press college football rankings released Sunday. The Huskies, who collected 1,188 votes, also remained No. 6 in the coaches poll.
Washington State, 18th in last week’s AP rankings, moved up to No. 16 after pounding Nevada 45-7. Two other Pac-12 teams are ranked this week. USC (4-0) remained at No. 5 after beating California 30-20, and Utah (4-0) jumped from 23rd to 20th after defeating Arizona 30-24.
Oregon, ranked 24th last week, dropped out of the AP Top 25 after losing to Arizona State 37-35.
Washington, which had 1,177 votes in last week coaches’ poll, had 1,277 this week.
Alabama remained a clear No. 1 in the AP rankings with 52 first-place votes and 1,515 points. Clemson collected eight first-place votes and 1,458 points. Oklahoma and Penn State came in at No. 3 and No. 4 ahead of USC.
Washington plays at Oregon State at 5 p.m. Saturday (Pac-12 Networks) while WSU hosts USC at 7:30 p.m. (ESPN).
